The Story of the First Parish Sudbury Harvest Craft Fair

As long as anyone can remember, indeed, for over 100 years, First Parish has held an annual Harvest Fair. Fifty years ago, that event would have reflected the hand-work of the women of the parish: hand-sewn aprons and holiday ornaments, homemade pickles and jellies, hand-cut donuts, and steaming apple pieTimes have changed, but the parish kitchen still works hard to provide a wonderful selection of handmade soups and bread for lunch. There are still some determined jelly and jam makers and a great selection of baked goods donated by the congregation.

The fair has evolved over the years into a juried art and crafts show and sale, offering a wide variety of handmade items, from jewelry to pottery. Professional crafters and artisans from Massachusetts and other neighboring states submit their work in the spring to be considered, so that we can offer a balance of unique artwork for visitors to view and purchase. Artists booths are both indoors and outdoors, so the festive cluster of tents next to the historic meetinghouse draws a friendly crowd. Join us!
